The PC gaming world can be a complicated place for gamers trying to enjoy PC gaming titles which require lots of executed commands to play properly. The average PC keyboard and mouse are, in most cases, not configured to let a gamer excel, causing virtual death and setback of completion of the game. One PC peripheral add-on which might solve this PC gaming quagmire is Logitech's new G13 gameboard. The Logitech G13 gameboard is designed to sit alongside a PC (or Mac) keyboard and mouse. It reminds a computer user of those old 10-key pads designed for accounting, though this device is much more in line for use as an alien killer. It sports a special contoured design to fit a hand better and the home-row keys are concave, making it easier to locate buttons by touch. The gameboard is also sufficiently weighed down so as to not go flying when a gamer scores against an opponent in a LAN death match. Lots of Programmable Keys Inspire Gaming VictoryThe G13 is designed to help enhance PC gaming by offering up three game modes, 25 programmable keys and a programmable analog stick. Logitech says the gameboard delivers up to 87 total ways to control those favorite computer games. Options for programming the G13 abound. These include setting up custom button-profiles for each game installed on a hard drive or choosing from pre-configured settings for popular games such as World of Warcraft: Burning Crusade, Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Up to five profiles can be stored on the gameboard at once and macros can be created while actually gaming real time. The G13, as part of its configuration, includes a 160-by-43 pixel, built-in LCD screen. This screen shows live game stats, system information and also messages from other players. The LCD also looks to be viewable in low light conditions, as do the G13's various back-lit keys. The keys can be customized with a variety of back-lit colors, so as to create a further intense gaming mood. The Logitech G13 comes with software that needs to be installed onto a computer for the purposes of programming the customizable keys. This gameboard also supports enhancements developed by others through an open-source community. It prices around $80 and is available now for purchase online and in retail stores.
