Another in a long line of wireless mice, the Logitech V450 wireless mouse has received rave reviews from most buyers, but a small percentage has had major problems.

Wireless computer mice are incredibly popular due to their convenience and easy portability. The Logitech V450 Wireless USB Mouse is one of the most popular of the Logitech wireless mouse lineup, but while reviews of the device are generally favorable there are also some issues that may make a potential buyer think twice.

The Logitech V450 Wireless Mouse for Notebooks is the latest in a respected line of cordless products for notebook computers. Similar in many ways to it's siblings such as the Bluetooth conencted Logitech V470, the V450 provides wireless mouse convenience without the need of built in on add-on Bluetooth adapters. Reviews from hundreds of owners across several online shopping sites are mostly positive, siting very few problems with the device and raving on several useful features of the line:

  • 2.4 gigahertz wireless connection via a tiny wireless USB dongle that stores inside the mouse when not in use
  • built in tilt scroll wheel with side to side tilt option allowing extra control when surfing the web
  • mouse can be turned off when not in use to save battery power
  • low battery warning light
  • up to 12 month battery life (with normal use)
  • relatively low cost

Complaints Attributed To The Logitech V450 Wireless Mouse

On the downside, the Logitech V450 has had more than a tiny share of complaints as well, most having to do with connectivity and accuracy of mousing. Primary among these deficiencies are:

  • Connectivity problems (loss of connection or intermittent problems connecting to the receiver)
  • Tracking problems (mouse does not report the correct position

The V450 operates on the 2.4 gigahertz frequency, the same frequency that hundreds of other products also operate on including many wireless telephones and some Wi-Fi networking devices.

Some of the connectivity issues can most certainly be attributed to frequency interferance and not the fault of Logitech's manufacturing process, but a small percentage of these problems with the Logitech V450 also appear to be of legitimate concern. These include a small number of units that reportedly lost connection repeatedly or that connected correctly but gave inaccurate results.

Other users reported issues with the mouse not reporting the correct position to the computer resulting in less than acceptable results. However, it is also quite likely that many of these issues were the result of using a less than appropriate mousing surface. As with any laser optical mouse reflective surfaces are problematic and will produce the same lack of accuracy that was reported by some users.

Overall, across several online shopping sites, reviews on the Logitech v450 wireless mouse have been nearly 90% or more positive. It appears that for the overwhelming majority of buyers the Logitech v450 is an excellent choice for those who are in the market for a cordless optical laser mouse.
