The design is not practical for any type of heavy duty use in that there are no shoulder straps, and the color choices are not exactly workplace friendly (one review assistant actually compared the demo model's fabric and color scheme to an old chair in her grandmother's living room). These points aside, when used in a home environment the PocketTop does have its advantages over any standard laptop bag. The rigid domed top of the case provides room to store your laptop's power supply cable, and a small pass through allows you to connect it to your laptop and leave it plugged in during transport. When you arrive at your favorite chair it is then a simple matter to pull out the wall cord and plug it in while leaving the transformer and extra cable neatly tucked away inside. In testing this simple feature became one of the most popular features of the PocketTop but the case is not without its detractors as well.

Recently the Pasedena Museum of California Art featured five of Belkin's products for their exceptional visual design including the PocketTop. While the design of the case may be interesting, buyers in different areas of the world may have differing opinions of its merits. The modern, curved lines of the PocketTop are easy to look at, but the color schemes available will not likely look at home on many desks. In terms of appeal as a women's laptop case the initial reaction to the case's visual aspects were lackluster at best. It was said by one female reviewer that the case might be more apropos in the more trendy areas of the coasts than in the living rooms of the Midwest. This Belkin laptop computer case comes with three color choices: silver, orange, or green, each shade of which leans more toward the vibrant side of the color wheel.
